MayBE is the latest exhibition. It showcases the work of nine artists. The works capture the may be of the desert – the beauty, the inspiration and the raw power of nature.
Hiroko Momii (www.hirokomomii.com) is a Japanese artist who found her artistic calling in the California landscape. Inspired by a quote from Wassily Kandinsky that “Spirituality is the purpose of art,’ Hiroko creates work that weaves a spiritual connection between the here and the possible. She expresses her experiences through abstract form, color, shape, space, movement. “My intent,’ she says, “is to provoke each viewer’s inner experience, buried in the unconscious to become aware and embrace his or her own experiences, pleasant or unpleasant.”
Drew Reese (http://drewreesephoto.com) is a photographer capturing moments. Drew says “I am a desert landscape photographer living in Joshua Tree, California. My challenge is to see ‘the familiar’ in a unique way. The desert landscape is my palate. Most of my shooting takes place in Joshua Tree National Park, Big Morongo Canyon Preserve and beyond…”
